>Willem Claeszoon Heda,Breakfast,the Hermitage, St. Petersburg,1648
Willem Claeszoon Heda was a Dutch Golden Age artist from the city of Haarlem devoted exclusively to the painting of still lifes. He is known for his innovation of the late breakfast genre of still life painting. Here, it depicts the vessels, a crab, a lemon, a knife and a glass are on a table. The muted tonality and limited range of objects on the table seems to evoke an impression of modesty and restraint.
